Conventional Screw Feeders

Screw Feeders, Feed ElevatorsScrew Feeders play an important role in delivering bulk granular and powdered materials to a process unit or storage hopper. Screw feeders employ a rotating, helicoid screw that moves material forward in the direction of screw rotation. When used as Volumetric Feeders they will have a feed hopper mounted above a horizontal screw to ensure complete filling of the screw trough. This enables the screw to deliver material with the highest degree of accuracy, typically with an error of about 5%. These Screw feeders must be filledfrom the top, often requiring an elevator to reach the feed hopper.

OLDS ELEVATORS™ are inherently Volumetric Feeders, even though they are vertically oriented. Since they operate in flooded mode they can be used as a volumetric feeder and exhibit accuracy rates equal to or greater than conventional horizontal screw feeders. An added benefit with the OLDS ELEVATOR™ is that it can be fed from the lowest possible level. There is no need to elevate material to fill the feed hopper. The OLDS ELEVATOR™ will elevate and volumetrically feed a process in a single operation.
