Gravimetric Feeders Gravimetric Feeders for bulk materials are used when the accuracy of the delivery rate must be controlled precisely by actually weighing the delivered material. Gravimetric feeders take over typically where volumetric feeders leave off. Common gravimetric feeders include: Loss-in-Weight feeders, Gain-in Weight feeders and Weigh-Belts. Gravimetric feeders can deliver material with an accuracy error in the range of 0.5% - 1% @ 2 Sigma.  For many bulk materials the OLDS ELEVATOR™'s volumetric flow rate accuracy and repeatability error is between 1% - 5% at 2 Sigma. Where greater accuracy is required, often with materials that are subject to changes in bulk density, OLDS ELEVATOR™ is developing a gravimetric feeder employing a standard OLDS ELEVATOR™ in combination with a special weigh belt feeder. This will allow operators to realize all the inherent benefits of the OLDS ELEVATOR™ (small footprint, gentle handling, 90° elevation, no dust, smooth steady discharge flow) with the accuracy of a gravimetric feeder. When used in place of a Loss-in-Weight (LIW) feeder the Olds gravimetric feeder will save approximately 30% - 40% of the vertical space currently utilized by the LIW feeders. |
